Long Island’s most prestigious business publication, the Long Island Business News, has cited the Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency as the top IDA in Nassau County. Heres what the newspaper had to say:
The Town of HempsteadҒs Industrial Development Agency can brag about 2006.
First, there was 1001 Franklin Ave. in downtown Garden City, where developers put an environmentally friendly twist on a dated structure
“They have made it a top-shelf office building,” said Fred Parola, the agency’s executive director, adding it will infuse more than 300 jobs into the Nassau community. “Its just a crucial project.”
Also in Garden City, there’s the “unique” transformation of a former pill factory into the Business and Research Center at Garden City.
“Crucial location. Long history,” Parola said. “The building had become antiquated. I think its a major victory when we can rehabilitate and save a building.”
Developer Joel Farkas gave “props” to the IDA, which provided tax breaks for the project slated to bring another 300 positions to town҅
“Where entrepreneurs can work with government, better than expected results can be achieved,” he said. “That’s really the case here. Government stepped up.”
And, Parola promised, plenty more dealsand jobsחare in the works for 2007. It’s “going to be gangbusters for us,” he said.
